iPhone battery replace – Here’s how you can do it yourself

iPhone battery replace is not as easy as you think it is. Being one of the expensive and delicate device, lots of care and patience is required while replacing any of its parts, especially its battery. But that’s not all; you need to clearly know different steps that are involved in replacing these components in your iPhone. If you are unsure of any of the steps or feel the entire replacement procedure is way too complicated, you can stop it then and there and seek experts’ advice.

First up, you need to be comfortable working with other devices like soldering iron and know clearly how to use it alongside other components. The most difficult part in iPhone battery replace is obviously is removing them from the device itself. Once you remove the battery from the device, you will then need to replace with another suitable battery. For this, you need to follow certain essential steps. You will also need to have important tools ready to carry out replacement procedures. Few such tools include screwdrivers, a soldering iron, a spudger, and obviously lots of patience and care.

1st Phase: iPhone battery replace from the device

1. You need to carefully remove the SIM tray using a paperclip. This can be found near the jack that is used for headphones.

2. Using a small screwdriver you can remove the screws that are found on either sides of charging dock. After removing them, the back cover can be easily removed too.

3. The removal of back cover in the iPhone battery replace procedure requires patience and extra care. In fact, you might be required to put some force to get it removed from the system. A flat screwdriver can be used to create opening between front of iPhone and the back cover. Carefully lift from the back side and slide forward to get it released.

4. Ribbon cable has to be detached in the next step. This is the one that connects motherboard with the case. It has to be kept aside to be reattached once the battery is fitted in at a later stage.

5. As a next step in the iPhone battery replace, you need to remove the LCD carefully from the back panel. For this, the spudger can be used by inserting it between the front panel and the chrome ring.

6. Removing the motherboard is the next step in the iPhone battery replace. This can be done by removing the screws using a screwdriver.

7. Using a spudger, the board has to be disengaged from the dock connector. It can be easily lifted if all the screws are removed. Now, the battery should be easily visible.

8. A flat head screwdriver can be used to lift the old battery from its slot. But make sure you don’t touch any of the wires present in the vicinity. Most of these wires are put in their respective places using glue and can be removed by using these screwdrivers.

9. As a last step in the removing the old battery, the unglued wires have to be detached using a soldering iron. However, you need to keep a tab on the placements of the wires. You also need to be careful while exerting pressure. Excess pressure can easily ruin the board. You are now ready to remove the used battery.

2nd Phase: Replacing the old battery with the new one

Ideally, the new iPhone battery should have 3 wires in it. While one of these wires is protected using a plastic cover, other two wires are exposed. First up, you need to connect the exposed ones using a soldering iron, followed by the one that is well protected. The new battery then has to be placed in the slot provided for it. The iPhone will power up as soon as battery inside it. If it fails to do so, use the home button to get it powered up.

The above mentioned iPhone battery replace steps are really simple and can be carried out by an individual if proper care and attention is applied. Though there is no guarantee that your iPhone will be fine after the battery is replaced, the attempt can still be made.
